Alzheimer's is a Horrible disease... Help me in the FIGHT!

Hello Friends,
I am very passionate about Alzheimer's Disease. My father suffers and just on Saturday we experienced the scariest thing.. It was 11am and I walked passes my parents bedroom and saw the room empty. I walked to our family room and saw my mom taking a nap sitting up on the couch. I asked, Mom where is Dad? and she said, oh he's sleeping. I informed her he wasn't in the room. (sidebar- my dad gets very confused and disoriented and doesn't like walking around) I searched every room in our house and panic set in. My dad was gone.. I ran into the living room and saw the door closed but unlocked. In my jammies, I ran outside and started yelling dad... nothing... Paul in the mean time got our keys and started driving around the neighborhood. I drove around too and my mom stood home.. We searched everywhere and stopped anyone walking to ask if they've seen my dad.. Finally after what seemed like hours, I came upon a black truck and pulled up aside him.. I started to ask about seeing my dad and the man moved back and there was my dad sitting next to him..
You don't know how happy I was...
My dad had wandered 4 blocks away in his pjs, no shoes and was found by this very kind man. The man had driven him around for approx 35 min before I found them.  My dad couldn't tell the man his name nor did he know how to find our home... If you have a family member or friend with Alzheimer's you know how incredibly scary and sad this disease is..  I see my father suffering and over the past year he has had so many additional medical conditions. I need to be his voice.. I have started a team and we accomplished out first fundraising walk last Oct.

Scrapbooking day...

Hello Friends,
I'm having such an accomplished day.. I have been scrapbooking and trying to finish up my 2011 book.. I had stalled thinking I needed to find the perfect DIGI hot dog to complete my PINK'S Hot Dog page.. I finally looked in my WORD programs clip art and found one that I printed on both red and kraft paper. I then paper pieced it and used chalk to darked the colors and make the Hot dog more authentic. I used Sizzix dies for the PINKS and printed a 1940's pic of the hot dog stand..
here's my pages and I hope you liked them..

Post Office Tip~

Hi Friends,

Today is the last day to get your FOREVER stamps at the post office for just $8.80 a book... Tomorrow postal rates go up one penny... Yes, not much but I needed more and thought why not save...

The local post office said, any 5x5 envelopes and A6 envelopes will be going for .65 and all A2 envelopes will be .45.. rates went up a little on Flat rate boxes and envelopes too... SO go get your Forever stamps before tomorrow...

Ribbon Organization time...

Hello Friends,

I was looking through my ribbons bin today to find a little something special and I finally got bothered by the small zip-loc of tangled organza.. I've had this bag through the years and as I get pretty gifts with organza, I save it and add it to my stash..
Here is what I was working with.. LOL

I have been wanting to iron the ribbon with a very light touch of the iron to straighten then colors and get these organized. I tend to only use the nice spooled ribbons in my collection. Time to put my idea to the test.. I brought out a towel and my iron and got to work. Very carefully tap the ribbon with the iron and make sure not to burn them. I used cardstock scraps of kraft and white paper to wrap the now flat ribbons and organize them by color..

Here's the finished result..

I can now organzie my ribbons bin and have them look pretty.. LOL

from Plain to FABULOUS

Hello Friends,

I've had a great time today decorating a Journal for a very special Teenager... This month my BFF's daughter turns 13... As you all know these are the precious years that will shape her and her character.. I picked up a few blank journals from Target to keep around just for this type of special occasion..  I took one out and because she loves PINK, I made it special just for her with a private message on the inside flap.  I also Kreated a special bday card so on Tuesday I will be at the post office bright and early getting her gift ready for send off...

I've taken a couple of pictures to show a before and after.. The purple journal is still blank ready for the next gift need.

I hope she loves it...

Hello Friends,

Have you taken time to craft this year? I was at my local Michael's store and found a dollar bin full of fabulous CUPCAKE wrappers. I bought a couple packs with the intentions of making great desserts. As I walked further, I saw some pre-packaged die cut flowers and of course grabbed them. THEN my crafting friends, I had a LIGHT BULB moment....

I can save money, have more choices and use my left over wrappers from past baking projects..

MAKE MY OWN DIE CUT FLOWERS USING THE CUPCAKE WRAPPERS...

I brought out my BIG Kick and Sizzix Tattered Floral die by JIM HOLTZ ~ I used 2 wrappers that I battered by floding, rolling and scrunched up.. I made them look wrinkled then straightened them out and cut them in half to cover both the small and medium flower dies.

here are the steps and results.

 

The fun and possibilities are endless...

Thanks to all my new followers.. I'm so blessed to have you join me. I hope to get to know each of you..

I am so excited this morning.. and looking to all my crafty friends fo some help..

I have a wonderful friend Michelle who was so awesome and surprised me with fabulous buttons in several colors so I can add them to any of my projects.. Thank you Michelle... I've purchased a box to seperate out the colors and LOVE them.. I have three spaces left in the organizer and I think it's just enough space to add WHITE, SILVER AND GOLD buttons... some shimmer...

Do you have suggestions on where to buy buttons? I've looked at Michael's and Joann's but I didn't find packs of great buttons.. How do you purchase buttons??

Any help is much appreciated...
